Alexander "Alex" Granito is a baritone from Orange County, California. He was fortuitously introduced to opera at the the young age of 11, while preparing for his role in the middle school musical. Ever since, Alex has been tirelessly committed to becoming a professional opera singer. 

Alex strives to infuse his performances with authenticity and a palpable sense of happiness. His creative process is driven by a desire to connect with his audience and breathe life into each character he has the opportunity to portray on stage.

Currently, Alex is an Artist in Residence at Opera Colorado for their 2024-25 season. During his residency this year he will perform the mainstage roles of Schaunard in La Bohème and Corporal in Daughter of the Regiment at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. In Opera Colorado’s touring productions, Alex will sing the roles of Father in Hansel and Gretel as well as Figaro in The Barber of Seville.

During the 2023-24 season Alex was also an Artist in Residence at Opera Colorado where he performed the roles of Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Dandini in Rossini’s Cinderella, and Sergeant Belcore in Donizetti’s Elixir of Love. Alex will soon be performing the role of Second Philistine in Opera Colorado’s main stage production of Saint-Saëns’ Samson and Dalilah


Last summer, Alex participated as a Studio Artist at Chautauqua Opera and perform the role of “Young Man” in the world premiere of Love, Loss and a Century Upon Us written by Rene Orth and librettist Jeremy Dye. Afterwards, Alex will be returning to Opera Colorado for their 2024-25 season and will be portraying the role of Schaunard in Puccini’s La Bohème as a principal artist. 


In 2023, Alex had the pleasure of being a fellow at Music Academy (of the West) and performing the role of Schaunard in Puccini’s La Boheme

Alex studied at San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of his teacher Cesar Ulloa, receiving his Bachelor of Music in 2019 and his Master of Music in 2021.
